Teacher of the Year

Post image for Teacher of the Year

Since 1999 the Veterans of Foreign Wars has recognized a National Citizenship Education Teacher at the elementary, middle school, and high school level. These teachers are ones that regularly teach and promote America’s history, traditions and institutions effectively. They consistently promote civic responsibility, flag etiquette and patriotism in their classroom.

Teachers may be nominated by anyone. Each local VFW post may select a teacher at each level and then submit their winner/s to their District competition. Districts then forward their winners to Department (state) competition and then Departments to VFW National competition. Entry deadline to the Post is November 1, 2013.
