Programs
The VFW Ladies Auxiliary actively supports 10 veterans and community based programs that uphold our motto of “Honoring the dead by helping the living.” Each of these prgrams is supported at the National, Department, District, and local post level. VFW Post 3377 Ladies Auxiliary supports each program at the “grass roots” level along with other programs supported by the post membership. If you are eligible, we encourage your active participation to celebrate the freedoms we enjoy in America.
Americanism
Promotes patriotism. Fosters love for America by teaching young people and new citizens about our heritage. Each year members present 600,000 American Flags to schools and other community groups, Other activities include POW/MIA programs, “Get-Out-The-Vote” activities, and citizenship classes.* VFW Ladies Auxiliary National Americanism program
Cancer Aid and Research
Nearly $3 million is raised each year to help cancer-stricken members and their families and invest in research throught the country. The Ladies Auxiliary at the National level also offers a $100,000 Postdoctoral Cancer Research Fellowship to help find a cure and better treatments for this disease.* VFW Ladies Auxiliary National Cancer Aid and Research program
Hospital & VAVS
Adult and student volunteers cheer patients in VA Medical Centers as well as other hospitals and nursing homes. Members conduct holiday and birthday parties, serve treats, read to the patients, wite letters, and make lap robes, tray favors and other items.* VFW Ladies Auxiliary National Hospital and VAVS program
Legislative
On request, members send letters and emails to members of Congress outlining the VFW and Auxiliary’s views on
bills dealing with veterans and national security. The organization speaks out on legislation that affects the VA budget and future health care for veterans, veterans’ entitlements, resolution of POW/MIA questions, investigation into the Persian Gulf illnesses, and enhancing the Active Duty GI Bill.* VFW Ladies Auxiliary National Legislative program
VFW National Home For Children
Located in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, the Home was founded in 1925 and is a living memorial to all veterans. Children
and families of VFW and Auxiliary members are given opportunities for growth and development in a nurturing community.* VFW National Home for Children
